UAE Ambassador to the UN Mohamed Abushahab has called for early conflict prevention, the inclusion of women in peacebuilding, and stronger compliance with international humanitarian law during a United Nations Security Council debate on Tuesday.

The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation during the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).

The UAE arrested over 32,000 people who violated residence laws in the first six months of 2025, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security said on Tuesday. 

Russian negotiators flew to Turkey to hold peace talks with Ukraine on Wednesday, the Kremlin said, before what will be the first direct discussions between the warring sides in more than seven weeks.
