Abu Dhabi gets new AC bus shelters
Twenty-three new air-conditioned bus shelters have been installed in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs.
It’s part of the first phase of the Department of Transport’s plan to have 600 shelters placed across the capital, Al Dhafra Region, and Al Ain City by the end of 2020.
Authorities plan to have 100 of the units ready by the end of this year and the project is being implemented at a cost of AED 35 million.
The new shelters will display the public bus routes and timings, and will also give commuters the option to recharge their bus cards.
Some of the units will be housed in recycled shipping containers and will reflect the identity of the neighbourhoods where they are located.
