Four-month UAE amnesty period ends Friday, no more extensions
The four-month-long visa amnesty to help violators to rectify their residency status has ended Friday, with no further extensions.
That’s the word from officials at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC), who said they will step up campaigns to crack down on illegal residents immediately.
Violators will face tough punishments including fines, jail sentences and deportation, officials added.
The “Protect Yourself by Modifying Your Status” initiative, which started on August 1, enabled illegal residents to modify their status or leave the UAE without facing fines or legal action.
