GGG wants Canelo rematch after narrow defeat
Gennady Golovkin says he wants a third boxing bout with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, after narrowly losing their second meeting on Sunday morning.
The Kazakh star dropped the world middleweight belts to his Mexican rival through majority decision, with one judge scoring it a draw and the other two 115-113 in favour of Canelo.
It followed a closely-fought battle in Las Vegas, in which both boxers were cut and on the end of some powerful shots, but without being staggered.
GGG, who was controversially denied a win in their first bout, which ended in a draw, congratulated his opponent afterwards but said that he thought he “fought better”, adding that “we would like to have a third fight. We will negotiate that.”
