The UAE's Etihad Rail project has set a new milestone with the completion of key construction work for the second stage of the scheme.
Package A of the project's Stage Two extends 139 km and is connected through Al Ghuwaifat on the border of Saudi Arabia with Stage One, which extends 264 km from Habshan to Al Ruwais.
The latest phase was completed two months ahead of schedule.
Officials said the latest achievement brings the company closer to completing the UAE National Railway Network on time.
Etihad Rail is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UAE.
It will connect vital areas in the seven Emirates via a track extending over 1,200 km to enhance the country's social and economic development, as well as its global positioning in line with the UAE Centennial 2071.
