Japan arrests man for stabbing police officer, taking gun

A man suspected of stabbing a police officer in Japan has been arrested a day after the incident.

The 33-year-old man, who had escaped with the officer's loaded handgun, was found lying on a bench with the weapon underneath it.

The wounded officer continues to remain in a critical condition. 

Police said they are beefing up security in the city ahead of next week's G20 summit.
