Oman Police: Mosque attackers Omani citizens

The Royal Oman Police has announced three brothers of Omani nationality were responsible for the shooting near Imam Ali mosque in Wadi al-Kabir on Monday.

The perpetrators were killed during an exchange of fire with police during the incident.

A policeman and five worshipers were also killed, and 28 others were injured.

In a post on X the Royal Oman Police wrote: "The Royal Oman Police, in its commitment to keep the public informed of developments in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir shooting incident, it had been confirmed that the three perpetrators involved in the incident were Omani nationals and brothers.

"They were killed due to their insistence on resisting security personnel. Investigations and inquiries have indicated that they were influenced by misguided ideas.

"The Royal Oman Police reiterates its thanks and gratitude to everyone for their vigilance, concern and commitment to the safety and security of their country."
