Rhodes, a popular Greek tourist destination, was hit hard by Storm Bora over the weekend, with homes, businesses, and roads covered in mud and debris.

In the resort town of Faliraki, torrential rains destroyed a bridge, opened chasms in the ground, and damaged coastal properties. In the village of Tsairi, a bridge collapsed, isolating residents.

The Greek fire brigade has deployed aerial units, along with 35 firefighters and two rescue boats from Athens, and additional teams from Piraeus to assist in the relief efforts.

Tragically, a 57-year-old man in Limnos Island died after being swept away by strong currents.

The islands of Rhodes and Limnos have declared a state of emergency. Greece has faced repeated natural disasters, with scientists warning that the country is becoming a "hot spot" for climate change, suffering from both floods and wildfires.
