1 killed, 7 injured in Dubai accident

Dubai Police are reminding motorists to check the condition of their tyres before hitting the road.

The reminder comes following two accidents on Tuesday that were triggered by burst tyres - one of which was fatal.

One person was killed and seven others were injured after a bus crashed into a truck that had stopped on Emirates Road with a burst tyre (1:45 am).

Meanwhile, a minibus driver was seriously injured in an accident in Ras Al Khor, which was also caused by a burst tyre (.

The vehicle deviated from its lane and crashed into a concrete barrier.

Two other accidents were also reported on Tuesday.

A motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries in a collision involving a car in Al Barsha (7:45 pm).

The fourth accident took place in the Damac Hills 2 area when a car rammed into the sidewalk on an internal street (10:00 pm).

Officials have urged drivers to carry out periodic checks on their vehicles, to avoid speeding and to leave a safe distance between vehicles.
