The agenda for the region’s largest gathering of Arab media professionals in Dubai will be themed on the future of the sector, with a special focus on the effects of artificial intelligence and sustainability.

Speaking to ARN News, Dr Maitha Buhumaid, Director of Dubai Press Club, said the 21st edition of Arab Media Forum will host a series of sessions, panel discussions, and workshops underlining the influence of AI on the media and the broader creative landscape, as well as the critical need for the world to commit to sustainability.

This year will also see the inaugural Youth edition, which will be held a day ahead of the main event on September 25 at Madinat Jumeirah.

Speaking to ARN News, Hesham Al Olama - Member of AMF's Organising Committee - said the new event will target media students, experts and influencers with masterclasses, panel discussions and TED-style talks to transfer knowledge between different generations.

Dr Buhumaid said they will have specific brain-storming sessions to hear from youth on what they are expecting from the media, what tools they use and from where they get their information from.

The AMF, which will be held from September 26-27, will promote the benefits of AI and how it can be harnessed by the industry to its advantage rather than to its detriment.

Organisers said they are introducing MAi, a state-of-the-art virtual assistant that will be on hand to offer guests information related to the forum in Arabic and other languages.
