People of Determination travelling from Abu Dhabi International Airport will soon be able to use autonomous wheelchairs at the terminal.

These chairs are fitted with sensors to detect obstructions enabling the user to move independently around the airport.

The airport authority, along with Etihad Airways and electric vehicle maker WHILL, completed the trials with the help of 60 guests with restricted mobility.

Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi International Airport will be the first in the region to introduce such a facility.
