Cycling tracks in Dubai's Al Khawaneej, Mushrif nears completion

RTA

Construction work on two cycling tracks in Dubai's Al Khawaneej and Mushrif neighbourhoods is 90 per cent complete, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Sunday.

The 7-km stretch will extend the existing cycling tracks in both districts to 39 km.

The first track runs from Quranic Garden on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street up to the intersection with Al Khawaneej Street, while the second will be from Mushrif Park, near Crocodile Park, up to intersection with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and crosses over to the intersection with Al Khawaneej Street.

"The plan includes increasing the total length of cycling tracks in Dubai from the existing 544 km to 819 km by 2026," highlighted Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.

It follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to transform Dubai into a bicycle-friendly city.
