The first phase of a unified electronic medical records system has been launched by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
The initiative called NABIDH (Network & Analysis Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health) aims to provide every patient in Dubai with an electronic medical file that can be accessed across all public and private health facilities in the Emirate.
It will provide physicians with a consolidated timeline of aggregated medical history, including medications, allergies, procedures, and test results, hence helping them make more informed clinical decisions.
In its initial phase, it will include DHA facilities, as well as several Mediclinic hospitals and clinics, and will comprise more than 1.1 million electronic files of patients.
By the first quarter of 2021, Zulekha Hospital, Kings College Dubai and Al Zahra Hospital will also come onboard.
The implementation of NABIDH is part of a three-year project that will ensure every patient in Dubai will have an electronic file.
