An inmate at a Dubai prison was reunited with his son following a surprise visit initiated by Dubai Police.

The General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions arranged the heartwarming reunion after noticing that the inmate would always draw his son’s pictures during group activities.

The man's only son who lived in another country was flown to Dubai.

On the day of the visit, when the inmate was informed that he had a visitor, he was taken aback as he never had any visitors in the past.

"He was stunned to see his son. Overwhelmed by the surprise, he was unable to contain his emotions and burst into tears as he embraced his son," said Brigadier Marwan Jalfar, the Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions.

"It was an incredibly moving moment that touched everyone involved, leaving a lasting impression," added Brig. Jalfar.

The reunion was made possible through the 'Inmate Happiness' humanitarian initiative aimed at improving the welfare of prisoners.

The father and son expressed their gratitude to the Dubai Police General Command as their previous communications had been either remotely or through phone calls.
