Dubai Police are reminding the public to be on their guard when it comes to scammers operating in the country.
Fake websites, phone calls, social media posts and emails designed to steal identities or financial details are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with criminals often sending OTP codes to appear to be 100 per cent genuine.
First Lieutenant Rashed Ahmed Lootah from Dubai Police's Cybercrime Department said it pays to be wary.
Fraudsters are using increasingly convincing methods to trick the public into dishing out credit card or ID details.
First Lieutenant Lootah said to be on the lookout for delivery or service company messages asking for payment up-front.
He urged anyone who has been the victim of an OTP scam to make sure they contact the Dubai Police and not feel embarrassed at being duped.
