An ambitious social welfare strategy has been launched in Dubai, aimed at empowering Emirati families and raising overall living conditions in the emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of the 'Dubai Social Agenda 33', with a budget of AED 208 billion over the next 10 years.

The agenda is focused on doubling the number of Emirati families in Dubai within a decade, and enhancing housing standards and quality of education and healthcare.

Its launch follows Sheikh Mohammed’s tradition of unveiling promising national programmes and projects on January 4 to mark the anniversary of his accession as the Ruler of Dubai.

'Family: The Foundation of Our Nation' is the theme of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which complements the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), with a focus on sustainable social development and the provision of services related to healthcare, housing, education, culture, sports and community.

"Our goal is for Dubai to be among the world’s top 3 cities in terms of living standards. We also aim to accelerate social development among Dubai families," said Sheikh Mohammed.

"We have also directed Hamdan bin Mohammed and Maktoum bin Mohammed to oversee the implementation of the Agenda," His Highness added.

Objectives

The Dubai Social Agenda 33 outlines six ambitious objectives for the next decade, key among which is turning Dubai into one of the world’s top 3 cities in terms of standard of living.

It also aims for a healthy life expectancy that ranks among the world’s top ten and for the quality of education in Dubai to be among the world’s top 10 cities.

The agenda aims to triple the number of Emiratis working in the private sector, provide a land plot and a loan for every new Emirati family within one year of application, and promote efforts to double the number of new Emirati families in Dubai by 2033.
