Safety protocols for Grade 12 examinations have been announced for government and private schools in the UAE.

According to an announcement made by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), this will apply to government and private schools across the country that are following the Ministry of Education's curriculum.

Teachers, Grade 12 students, administrators, and support staff, which includes cleaning, catering and security employees, will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result on Tuesday, June 8, and Sunday, June 13. Test results must not exceed four days.

The list of guidelines also requires students to arrive at their school campus 30 minutes prior to the examination slot, while school gates will open 60 minutes before the test.

Parents and guardians will be prohibited from interacting with other students and will be required to remain in their vehicles and buses at drop-off. However, this will not apply to students of determination.

NCEMA clarified that students and staff members who are experiencing coronavirus or respiratory symptoms should refrain from going to educational establishments.

Additionally, the protocol exempts students infected with the virus or close contacts from sitting for the exams, adding that "special measures will be adopted for them to get tested under preventive and precautionary measures".

Masks are to be worn by all attendees at all times.
