This year’s event will hold the world premiere screening of Sharif’s last film, ‘1001 Inventions and the World of Ibn Al-Haytham’. The actor, who passed away in July, came out of retirement to support the short film, which focuses on the accomplishments of the 11th century Arab philosopher Ibn Al-Haytham. The UK and UAE co-produced film is also competing in the Muhr Gulf Short category at the Festival. DIFF runs from December 9-16.
