Road upgrades to ease congestion in Dubai's Al Safa

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed major traffic improvements at four key sites within the Al Safa 1 schools complex.

The upgrades include widening entry and exit points, installing traffic lights and adding pedestrian crossings.

The changes are designed to benefit students, local residents and service providers.

Key improvements include:

  • A new 255-metre lane has been added to the service road for vehicles travelling from the junction of Sheikh Zayed Road with Al Hadiqa Road (second junction) towards the roundabout leading to Street 13. This is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time to Al Safa 1 schools complex by 20 per cent.
  • 22 new parallel parking slots have been created near Al Safa School and Al Ittihad School to reduce congestion during peak times.
  • A 330-metre lane has been added to the exit from Street 19 to Al Wasl Street, and left-turn lanes have been reduced to improve traffic distribution. The intersection has also seen upgrades, including the addition of 18 new parking spaces opposite Jumeirah College.
  • An extra U-turn exit has been added on Al Wasl Street, complete with a traffic signal and pedestrian crossing to boost safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
