Second edition of Dubai's Michelin Star restaurants unveiled

Three restaurants in Dubai have been awarded the prestigious Michelin stars in the second edition during an exclusive ceremony at Atlantis The Royal on Tuesday, bringing the elite list in the city to 14.

Avatara, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Moonrise won one Michelin star for the first time.

Meanwhile, Trèsind Studio, Nakheel Tower, Palm Jumeirah, received the Michelin two-star ranking for the first time. 

Il Ristorante – Niko Romito and STAY by Yannick Alléno, both awarded two MICHELIN Stars in 2022, retained their distinction this year. And, all the restaurants - 11 Woodfire, Al Muntaha, Armani Ristorante, Hakkasan, Hoseki, Ossiano, Tasca by Jose Avillez and Torno Subito - awarded one MICHELIN Star in the 2022 selection maintained their distinction this year as well.

"Dubai boasts many diverse culinary concepts, from Peruvian to Emirati, modern French, traditional British to contemporary Japanese, ensuring that everyone feels at home here. We’re so pleased to witness its gastronomic growth on an international scale," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides.

In addition, 17 restaurants received a Bib Gourmand, with three new additions, namely 21 Grams, 3Fils and Aamara.

Meanwhile, Boca and Teible received a MICHELIN Green Star for their commitment to more sustainable gastronomy. Launched in 2020, the MICHELIN Green Star highlights those restaurants at the forefront of sustainable practices, offering gastronomic experiences while adopting an environmentally inspiring approach.

This year, the Young Chef Award went to Omkar Walve of avatāra, and Arturo Scamardella of Dinner By Heston Blumenthal received the Sommelier Award for his excellent advice, knowledge, passion and understanding of the needs of diners.

The Service Award was handed to the team at La Mar by Gastón Acurio, managed by Tomislav Lokvicic, while the new Special Award – the Opening of the Year – went to Ariana's Persian Kitchen led by chef Ariana Bundy.
