The UAE is stepping up efforts to tackle water scarcity in poor countries, and this time it’s through a virtual campaign, running throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the 'Well of Hope' humanitarian initiative, which gives public and private sector employees the chance to pump water through a digital device.
The virtual volume of water will then be donated to the less fortunate by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
Public and private firms can apply for the project using the hashtag #WellofHope.
The interactive pumping device will rotate daily across the twenty entities that will be selected to support the initiative.
.@HHShkMohd: There is a sense of goodness in every person and a merciful and generous soul inside each of us. The aim is to remind people of the great value of water and demonstrate the difficulties hundreds of millions face to get access to water. #UAE pic.twitter.com/13rVqYNacS
