UAE joins Jordan's centenary celebrations

WAM

The UAE will be joining Jordan in celebrating its 100th anniversary today.

The emirates’ participation reflects the strong historic relations between the leadership and people of both nations.

Established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late King Hussein bin Talal of Jordan, the UAE-Jordanian ties are distinguished by a high level of coordination in all fields, including Arab, Islamic and humanitarian issues across regional and international events

The UAE's leaders also took to Twitter to congratulate King Abdulla II bin Al-Hussein, King of Jordan.

"Congratulations to my brother King Abdulla II and the dear people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on their centennial. May Jordan continue to be a beacon of peace, reason and wisdom in the world," wrote His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed forces.

During the past years, the wise leadership of both countries have expressed continuous support to enhance their cooperation on all levels.

The number of Jordanians residing in the UAE exceeds 200,000, who occupy several jobs and professions and contribute to various commercial activities.

Jordan has also played a significant role in supporting the educational sector in the emirates by sending qualified teachers throughout the years.

"As we celebrate these auspicious events, we remember with pride the exemplary brotherly ties, built by the late King Al Hussein bin Talal and the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and sustained by His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan," said Jumaa Abdullah Al Abadi, Jordanian Ambassador to the UAE.

According to Ambassador Al Abadi, the commercial cooperation between the two countries grew significantly with the total volume of trade reaching $818 million during the period from January to November of 2020, while Emirati investments in Jordan reached $ 17 billion.

He also referred to the ongoing cooperation between the two countries to combat the spread of COVID-19, including three planes sent by the UAE to Jordan, carrying a total of 39.1 tonnes of medical aid, supporting more than 39,100 medical professionals.
