The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established the Retired Diplomats Council to tap into the wealth of experience and knowledge held by former envoys.

It will serve as a platform for the ambassadors to share insights gained from years of diplomatic service, encouraging and enriching the professional growth of new recruits.

Dr. Saeed Mohamed Ali Al Shamsi will be the Chairman of the Council, while Dr. Tariq Ahmad Ibrahim Al Haidan, Mohamed Ahmed Al Mahmoud, Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Dr. Mohamed Omar Abdulla Balfaqeeh, and Jumaa Mubarak Al Junaibi will step in as members.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored that the Council applauds the efforts of the officials in promoting the UAE diplomacy and bolstering the country’s standing regionally and internationally.

The Council will address the needs of the retired officers to ensure they continue to enjoy a good quality of life, and set up a comprehensive database and an electronic platform that will enable them to look at suggestions, inquiries and opinions.

The members will also provide academic support during special sessions at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) as well as contribute to their studies and research.
