UAE launches healthcare package for Down Syndrome children

A specialized healthcare package has been launched for children in the UAE with Down Syndrome.

The initiative features more effective communication between the different departments involved in the care of Down Syndrome patients like pediatric cardiologists, ENT doctors and physiotherapists. 

It also includes the launch of a multidisciplinary clinic at Fujairah Hospital along with the establishment of an electronic health surveillance unit.

A total of 15 children have benefitted from the programme so far with expansion plans set to include a further 110.
