UAE stresses commitment to humanitarian, development efforts

WAM

The UAE emphasised its commitment to supporting humanitarian and development projects globally during a UN forum in New York.

A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is representing the Emirates at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which runs until July 17.

The ERC's Secretary-General Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri said that the UAE has been trying to tackle poverty at its roots by implementing projects in employment, education, healthcare and clean energy sectors.

He also highlighted the ERC's strong partnerships with several international organisations, including the UN Refugee Agency, UNICEF and the World Food Programme.

Al Mansouri added that 54 per cent of the total aid provided by the ERC in 2022 was developmental aid, with 64 per cent allocated to the first sustainable development goal of eradicating poverty.
