The UAE Cabinet has approved the creation of the UAE Logistics Integration Council, aimed at boosting the country's position as a global trade hub.

The new entity will improve coordination between key sectors like ports, transport and customs, with a goal of growing the logistics industry from AED 129 billion to over AED 200 billion in the next seven years.

This was announced during a cabinet meeting on Monday, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

During the meeting held at Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi, the Cabinet also approved the National Cybersecurity Strategy, focusing on governance, protection, innovation and strengthening partnerships to ensure a secure digital environment.

In addition, the Cabinet reviewed updates on the high-speed train project linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and approved the API-First Policy to streamline digital system integration across ministries.

Other key decisions include the UAE National Geospatial Data Policy to improve data management, and progress on the UAE Circular Economy Agenda, which has seen successes in areas like sustainable agriculture and bio-diesel production.

The Cabinet also highlighted achievements in combating desertification, with 1,800 hectares of land rehabilitated and significant progress made in stabilizing soil carbon levels, as part of the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022-2030.
