US Secretary of State arrives in Saudi Arabia

The US Secretary of State has arrived in Saudi Arabia on the first leg of his Middle East tour.

Mike Pompeo met with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with the discussions focusing on strategic relations and the latest regional developments.

He is also scheduled to hold talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, before heading to the UAE.

On Sunday, the UAE joined Saudi Arabia, the USA and the UK in urging Iran to halt any further actions that threaten regional stability.

According to the national news agency WAM, the four countries also called for diplomatic solutions to de-escalate tensions.
