Wimbledon: Nadal and Serena advance as Gauff's dream run ends

Rafael Nadal is through to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon after defeating Portugal's Joao Sousa 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 on Centre Court.

Nadal's Spanish compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut also advanced to the next round, beating Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.

In the women’s competition, seven-time champion Serena Williams reached the last-eight with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro.

Williams will next face fellow American Alison Riske, who upset top-ranked Ashleigh Barty 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old American, Cori Gauff’s dream run came to an end after suffering a 3-6, 3-6 defeat to sixth seed Simona Halep.
